Interesting Fact: During college worked at a camp for Cuban refugees and became fluent in Spanish. Also worked at several hospitals with troubled teenagers between college and law school.

Michael spent the first two years of his legal career as a deputy public defender in San Diego, CA and then transitioned to private practice in criminal defense for ten years in the Bay Area. He later moved with his family to Los Angeles, and practiced criminal defense at a high-volume practice from 2004-2012. In 2012, he formed his own solo practice in Los Angeles. He recently moved back to the Bay Area and joined The Nieves Law Firm in September 2017.

Michael has tried over 50 jury trials, and litigated hundreds of motions and writs, all with a high rate of success. He has taught trial practice and juvenile practice at JFK Law School in Walnut Creek, and prepared and presented MCLE programs on domestic violence.
