Paul was an Associate for two years with Rains, Lucia & Stern, where he represented police officers and public employees in administrative hearings, internal affairs investigations and criminal prosecutions. He was then hired as an Assistant District Attorney with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, where he worked for six years. He handled misdemeanor and felony prosecutions at all stages, up to and including jury and court trial, in cases ranging from DUI, narcotics, robbery, and attempted murder charges. In the summer of 2013, Paul opened up his own criminal defense law office in San Francisco. He represented privately retained and court-appointed clients in state courts throughout the Bay Area and has defended clients in jury trials facing charges of first-degree burglary, robbery, attempted murder and murder.

Prior to his legal career, Paul has worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a hotel security officer, and a musical theater actor.

Paul has frequently been a guest lecturer at his alma mater, Golden Gate University School of Law, where he also volunteers as a judge in Appellate Advocacy and Mock Trial competitions.
